Today around noon Company 5 was alerted for an engine crew to respond into Murrysville for a residential structure fire. Company 4 had been alerted approx 30 mins prior and were on scene and working with Engine 42 and Truck 4. Company 5 crews met with Murrysvilles Fire Chief in command who advised that he wanted us to enter through front door and immed. go to the right and start opening walls up to check for extension as there were numerous areas of floor burnt out extending from right side of home at fireplace (side 4) across to living room on side 1. Crews opened 3-4 walls and found no extension. At that time there were crews already inside the area and due to unsafe flooring it was determined that we would exit home and advise chief of findings. After advising the chief he requested we go to side 4 and speak to Monroeville officer at back of home (D/C Bacco), as we went around home, Chief Piano of Sardis VFD greeted us and advised he had 4 guys inside cutting floor joists to check fo extension and there were 4-5 on stand-by outside awaiting orders. At that time I advised him we would go back to side 1 and see if anything else was needed there. As we went around to side 1, command again requested us to enter side 1 front entrance and go to 2nd floor to breach walls to allow crews a walk area due to the burnt our flooring on the second floor hallway. We made our way to 2nd floor and went into 1st bedroom on left on side 3 and started to breach walls through 2 bedrooms to the main bedroom where fireplace was on side 4. At that time several inspection holes were cut to determine fire spread and was found to be negative. While making inspection holes, numerous "hot spots" were found on flooring area joists between 1st and 2nd floors. Company 4 crews were below us on 1st floor and they were advised to use handline to hit those areas while we pulled the flooring up for them to see. Once in main bedroom, we made our way up to attic area and also found no fire spread. Company 5 and 4 at that time advised command and exited the residence where command advised we could pick up and return into service. MFD crews were on scene for 2 hours.
