Companies 4,3,5 and Squad 1 (RIT) were dispatched to the 800 block of Forbes Road for a residential house fire. Upon arrival, Engine 41 and Truck 5 crews found a moderate smoke condition present. Truck 5 crew located a fire and began a quick search inside as Engine 41's crews extinguished the bedroom fire. Water supply was an issue for crews as there are no hydrants located in this area of the municipality bringing Tanker 5 as the primary water supply for the incident. Crews remained on scene for approximately an hour before returning to service.

Companies 6,5,1 with Command 32 were alerted for a detached multiple vehicle garage fire this evening at the Eagles Nest Apts. C-11 with initial command arrived and reported a working detached garage fire with fire and heavy smoke showing.

C-60 arrived and then assumed command.

Company 5 responded with Truck 5 and Engine 51. Crews from E-51 established water supply to Quint 1 and assisted with fire extinguishment pulling a 2nd line off Quint 1 as Truck 5 crew ventilated the roof of the garage. Quint 1, on scene side A behind T-5, pulled 2-inch attack line and entered through open door side D.

As crews opened up doors, they found fire extension into common roof. Crews from E-51 assisted with opening up garage doors and pulling a second 2 inch attack line from Quint 1. E-62 on scene side C pulled a 3rd 2-inch attack line to side D. Additional crews from Stations 1 and 6 performed a trench cut in the roof from side A to side C over second garage from side B. extension was stopped at this point. Crews were on scene for about an hour and a half. No injuries were reported or occured. Allegheny County Fire Marshall was called to the scene.

While on this call, Companies 3 and 4 and Penn Hills Truck 227 handled 2 additional fire alarms at an apartment complex adjacent to this complex caused by the smoke from this detail. Eastern Area Prehospital Services also handled an EMS detail for us which MFD eventually crewed and took over for them. Thanks to all that assisted.

Tonight was our yearly Stuff-A Bus trip to benefit the local Marines Toys-4-Tots campaign, and as usual, the Monroeville Fire Dept made an unprecedented showing. This year not only did we donate the usual $2500 in toys but also made a special donation given to us by the Mattel Company of 2500 Match Box cars.

We would like to thank BIG LOTS for the use of their store and the WONDERFUL discount you offered us for this time of year. As well as the patience of putting up with our "special shoppers" that grace your aisles, I'm sure acting in their BEST behavior...Yeah right.

We would also like to thank 96.1 The KISS for doing this every year and spending the week here in Monroeville, it truly shows the gift of giving during the Holidays. We hope we provide many boys and girls a brighter Christmas this years because of it....
