Fire Safety
Most home fires can be prevented, and working alarms give you the time to get out.
In any emergency, call 911.
Non-emergency questions: (412) 372-7725
01
Smoke alarms
- Put a smoke alarm inside every bedroom, outside each sleeping area, and on every level of the home, including the basement.
- Test each alarm once a month with its test button.
- Replace any smoke alarm that is 10 years old.
02
Carbon monoxide alarms
- Put a CO alarm outside each sleeping area and on every level of the home.
- If a CO alarm sounds, get everyone outside into fresh air, then call 911.
03
Plan your escape
- Know two ways out of every room.
- Pick a meeting place outside, in front of the home.
- Practice the plan with everyone in the household at least twice a year.
- Once you are out, stay out. Never go back inside a burning building.
04
Help us find you
- Make sure your house number is easy to see from the street, day and night.
- Keep the area in front of hydrants near your home clear.

Make a difference in your community
We're always looking for dedicated individuals to join Monroeville Volunteer Fire Company #5. At Company #5, we offer a live-in program, continuing EMS education, CPR classes, fire training, a great learning experience, and so much more. You don't have to run calls to help: we also need people for fundraising, outreach, administration, accounting and station maintenance.
