Live-In Program · Students
Live in while you study
Free housing at Station 5 for students who want to serve.
For students
A place to live, and a reason to be there
You live at Station 5 in Monroeville rent-free, and in return you are on duty at the station 5 nights a week. Live-ins must be in school or working, so the program is built around people with classes and jobs.
Open to students at schools such as
- CCAC Boyce
- University of Pittsburgh
- Duquesne University
- Carnegie Mellon University

Why students live in
No rent, no utility bills
Rent is free and utilities are included, along with laundry, parking and a gym membership reimbursement. That is money you are not spending while you are in school.
Somewhere to study
The station has free high-speed internet and computers.
EMT and paramedic students: run real calls
The company runs two ALS ambulances and answers about 1,600 EMS calls a year. Live-ins have their EMT course paid for and gain experience on ALS calls.
No experience needed
You do not need any certification to start. You earn Firefighter 1 within 18 months and EMT within 2 years, with the training paid for.
